Lamps.com Currey & Company Studio Table Lamp

I’ve been obsessed with lighting lately. Ever since we began the barn studio project I’ve realized just how important not only good lighting is, but aesthetically, how it can make or break a room. Most recently I have been in the market for task lighting for the sewing area of my studio. I had been using the typical task lamp found at Michaels, but I really wanted something a bit more casual, country, and barn-like. Beautiful home office lighting with a vintage look. So, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Lamps.com to choose and review one of their lamps. With hundreds of excellent choices, I narrowed it down to these three:Jadeite Ceramica Table Lamp by Feiss, Brass Farmhouse Table Lamp by Dimond, and Elise Table Lamp by Currey & Company.JSIM-Lamp-05 I ultimately chose the Elise and it arrived yesterday!JSIM-Lamp-02Currey & Company, a wholesale manufacturer headquartered in Atlanta, Georga, began as purveyors of historic garden furnishings. They are now best known for lighting products such as chandeliers, wall sconces, table and floor lamps, as well as interior furniture, garden furniture and accessories. You can shop their extensive lighting fixture collection at Lamps.com.JSIM-Lamp-04The lamp came in two separate boxes for both base and shade and were very well packed for protection. Nothing to do but attach the harp to the base, screw on the shade and pop in a bulb.6216 Until recently, all our lamps were inexpensive ones purchased from places like Target. However, after much consideration, I spent a good penny on three awesome chandeliers for the studio with no regret. They hang down the center of the barn with recessed lights to each side. So to add this gorgeous wood-turned table lamp to my collection is a dream. The Elise Table Lamp is created from wood with an off-white painted and distressed finish. The linen shade is printed with a khaki Damask pattern. The quality of this lamp is incredible, right down to the solid brass hardware.JSIM-Lamp-03I chose the Elise primarily to coordinate with the space it will rest and illuminate, my sewing table. It’s perfect!JSIM-Lamp-01

Yes, this is a pricey item, and yes, likely it would not have been in my budget if this were not a product-compensated review. But should you be in the market for high-end, top quality lighting fixtures and products, I am hopeful this review helps steer you in the right direction. Lamps.com has lighting in a wide range of prices with many below $100. Instagram in the Studio and Beyond

Since becoming an iPhone user a few years back, I’ve been a little slow to check out all the cool apps out there. My favorite so far is Instagram. I actually started using it more as a tool to keep up on my kid’s online and I’m pretty new to it. I’m afraid, however, it could become an obsession. Real. Fast. I mean, how perfect is this app for the visually creative? I could scroll through crafty photos all day long.JSIM-Instagram-03

My favorite part of using Instagram so far is sharing still life vignettes, especially from around my studio (#studioshots). I’ve been in a bit of a quandary not being able to reveal my awesome new barn studio just yet, as it will be published eventually in a magazine and I promised to keep it fairly under wraps for now. So taking snippets of the eye candy that surrounds me has been quite satisfying, and hopefully inspiring to followers.JSIM-Instagram-02I enjoy following other creative users to see their images of inspiration and daily views. However, I’ve yet to warm up to mani-pedi shots, too many selfies, overly graphic-designed images, or the occasional promotional ad images. But never say never, right? I adore #tbt (throw back Thursday) photos and have fun posting them as well, (so if you follow me, you may eventually find me at summer church camp in the 70s.)

I still have plenty to learn about the ins and outs of social networking, so I appreciate well-written articles that help me use them better. Here are a few I found interesting about Instagram:
