360 Quick-Select™ from SKIL® Review & Giveaway

Who doesn’t love a good power tool? When I received 360 Quick-Select™ from SKIL^®, a lot of my studio needs were satisfied. Every time I need to use a screwdriver on a project with some power behind it, I have to lug out my big power drill case, pull out the drill, and dig through the drill bit box to find just the right bit to attach, then remove the bit and put the whole thing back together and away once the project is complete. I have a big project with lots of screws, my arm is usually quite taxed by the weight of the larger tool. But the 360 Quick-Select™ from SKIL^® is very compact and lightweight- weighing barely over one pound- just the right size for me. And with the fully integrated bit management system built into the front of the tool, I never have to go digging for bits! It’s pretty cool- as you turn the barrel, the different bits are illuminated in the top window. Once you find the bit you want to use, simply push the black lever forward and the bit appears, ready to go to work.It’s a great tool to have on hand for any home improvement, DIY or craft project and the perfect tool for my project yesterday. My library card cabinet that I use for button storage is ready for a new paint color, but it needed to be disassembled first. The brass ID plates had to be removed from 15 drawers and the the drawer fronts from their plastic compartments. This required two completely different drill bits and far too much elbow grease and time involvement for standard screwdrivers- I needed power. The ID plates had small brass screws and the drawer fronts were attached with larger screws, which would have been a bit hard to get to with a standard power drill/screwdriver.

We R Memory Keepers Washi Product, Project, and Giveaway

In January I spent a lot of time in the We R Memory Keepers booth at CHA learning about their exciting craft tools, albums, scrapbook embellishments and much more.My favorite items were the washi products. They did a lot to satisfy my addiction to Washi tape. But did you know about washi adhesive sheets? A versatile new craft supply with the look and feel of washi tape in 12″ x 12″ squares in lots of cool patterns! I could hardly wait to get my hands on all of it to play with in my studio.There are just so many things you can do with washi tape- search Washi tape on my blog for projects I’ve done, check out the fun projects on the We R Memory Keepers website, and bookmark and visit often the nifty Washi Tape Crafts website!

Here’s a quick and simple project I crafted yesterday with a washi adhesive sheet-:

A Beaded Candle Wrap

I started with a corrugated cardboard packing sheet saved from a recent assemble-yourself furniture purchase. I adhered a section of washi adhesive sheet to it, using the end of a paintbrush to press it down into the crevices as I went and peeling off the backing sheet along the way. I trimmed the washi’d section to fit around a glass candle holder.I glued small silver beads into the open ends of the corrugations, using a straight pin to place and guide the holes of the beads side to side so they wouldn’t point outward or upward. I wrapped the finished piece around a glass candle holder and tied it up with a piece of thin twine, knotting beads at the ends. The candle I used holds a waxy faux candle with LED flame. Please use great caution when crafting with real-flame candles and always follow safe candle practices. I am very excited to add all the coordinating wash tape roll sets by We R Memory Keepers to my washi tape collection. Here are just a few:

Studio Pup Pattern
