JSIM 2 SHARE No. 2: The Finger Check

While raising 3 kids I’ve done a few things right, (and plenty wrong, but that’s the post you’ll never read.) So I figure that if you’re going to survive parenting young children, you’ve got to get clever.
Most children are quite tactile by nature and seem to have an innate need to touch and feel everything new to them in the world. Thank goodness I found an alternative solution to the warning: “Don’t touch ANYTHING in this store!” upon entering any shop where they could do potential damage. We’d do a finger check. I’d have them show me which finger they chose for touching things in the store and that’s the only one they could use. Years and years of one-finger-touching and NEVER any damage. Yay Mom!

Just Something I Discovered

Well, it can’t always be all about me, really. I just have to share what inspires me.

So, in the off-chance you missed my post on my other blog, Farm Fresh Creative, I discovered some pretty sweet talent over there in New York! Susan Caliendo of Rolling Pin Productions bakes up and decorates the most amazing cookies ever. She will reproduce logos, photos, artwork -you name it and she can probably do it. What a kick to have special mug-shot-photo cookies for someone’s milestone birthday. You will have to visit her website to see the vast array of styles and themes.
I’ve been corresponding with Susan and my first delicious samples are en route. I will be sure to share the whole, (ok, most of the) experience with you when they arrive!

Thank you.

It’s been such a fantastic experience being Guest Mom on the Design Mom blog. There have been so many wonderful readers that have visited my JSIM blog over the last week as a direct result Gabrielle’s blog. Thank you very much, Gabrielle, for this amazing ride!

Welcome to all my new blog readers and thank you for all the great comments you’ve been leaving. And my special appreciation to those who have added a link to JSIM, and even my other blog Farm Fresh Creative, from your own blog. (I know who you are!)

My last post on Design Mom makes better sense of the number in this photo and why it’s personal to me. Today I am sending a very special “143” to my husband, who has been completely wonderful the last week or so while I not only worked at my regular job, but spent a little extra time with my blogs. I double-posted, promoted and photographed, obsessed with hits and stats, corresponded and commented… all from my little studio in the garage and away from the family. So, Jeff, as you read this from the firehouse today, know that you are truly appreciated for supporting my new adventures in blogging, and as always, you are completely and forever loved.
The cool hotel brass number is from Etsy seller Time Passages.
