I’ve got another guest post going this week over at Right@Home. They always have such crisp photos to add to the guest posts, unlike my amateur shots. But just for the record, if you read the post, here are a couple of monotone collections I refer to: my pottery and deer heads.

Last summer, after putting the finishing touches on these antique bottles, I looked at the grouping and saw in my mind a lovely vintage scene of beautifully dressed girlfriends standing together at the prom. Hence, the name.
I just added these bottles, individuals and groupings, to my Etsy shop. While preparing this post to promote them, the one that I was going to feature sold! A great problem to have, right!

Although my daughter Jamie’s 12th birthday was last weekend, her birthday wish was for her dad to take two of her friends to the beach overnight in the motorhome. It’s not our motorhome, it belongs to dear friends of ours that are very gracious in loaning it to us. Living in the country, we have the parking space, as they live in town, so it works out great for both families.
I procrastinated on ordering fun t-shirts for the road trip online, so in a pinch I picked up a pack of Wilton Easy Image T-Shirt transfers for dark fabrics, which I’ve never used before. I snagged a few grey super-soft Joe Boxer sweatshirts from K-Mart and by greatly modifying a purchased istock.com image of a vehicle, I created a fun graphic for the backs of the sweatshirts. (Her name is Jamie Ray, and J-Ray is a nickname she loves.)
These only work with ink-jet printers and printing of the transfers was a bit sketchy (a couple of paper jams,) but once I had 3 good copies the transferring went off without a hitch. This is unlike regular transfer sheets- you don’t flop the image, essentially you’re making a giant sticker, as once printed, the backing peels off. The image is laid onto the shirt and pressed on. Be sure to read the directions thoroughly, I thought I knew what I was doing, but this is a sensitive product and you can easily mess it up by doing something like moving the iron instead of lifting and pressing.
Hot off the press, (seriously great pun there if you missed it,) here’s the final product and here are the kids just before hitting the road today. Jeff plus three kids, two dogs, 4 bikes, beautiful January weather, a 20 minute drive and plenty of s’more makin’ supplies equals a great weekend ahead at the beach.
